The Foundation is delighted to announce that the City of Greater Bendigo is supporting this year’s Big Give fundraising campaign.
The Big Give runs from August 1 to September 1, and sees not-for-profit community groups register online to raise funds for projects.
Cash prizes will be awarded for the most donations received on the last day of the campaign (September 1), as well as various hourly and lucky prizes.
The City will contribute $25,000 to the campaign, which will go towards prize money and to support running the campaign.
Mayor Cr Rod Fyffe said the City was supporting the campaign because it would assist community groups to become sustainable.
“This initiative will allow community groups of various sizes to pitch their projects to the community who can then choose which projects they want to support,” Cr Fyffe said.
“The Big Give also supports these groups to develop online and direct fundraising skills, including marketing their project to the wider community. There are so many worthy community projects and only so many formal grant programs available, so this is a way to access funding from supportive community members.”
Community Foundation for Central Victoria Executive Officer Ann Lansberry said so far 25 groups had signed up to the Big Give.
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to the City for supporting this innovative digital campaign, which will help community groups to raise their own funds and become more sustainable,” Ms Lansberry said. “There is still time to register your project and be part of the campaign. So if you have a project that needs funding and you think the wider community might like to support it, you should get on board.”
